British Airways i360

British Airways i360 tower in Brighton is a 531ft-tall structure that features an ascending and descending circular viewing platform that has capacity for 200 people. At ground level of this world’s tallest moving observation tower and first vertical cable car, is an accessible 1,500sqm roof terrace area.

At the end of the ‘flight’ visitors descend to this roof terrace area where they can relax and socialise. Understandably the area will experience significant amounts of foot traffic, so the client wanted a waterproofing system that was both robust and high quality. Accurate Roofing provided a Bauder reinforced, inverted hot melt waterproofing system with hard landscaping.
‘The Serpentine’

With a name like ‘The Serpentine’, it’s no wonder that this snaking housing project called for a flexible roofing solution! The £11.6 million regeneration scheme in Aylesbury saw a former Territorial Army site transformed into an affordable and sustainable housing development, comprising 94 terraced houses and apartment blocks forming a continuous curved building. After the existing army building was demolished, a timber-frame structure was erected to form the development’s unusual snaking shape.
Accurate Roofing were tasked with the challenge of installing the roof element, with Sika Sarnafil single ply specified for its flexibility and suitability to tricky detailing.
Chelsea Football Club Training Facility, Cobham, Surrey

Accurate Roofing successfully tendered this fantastic looking scheme at the new training facility for one the world’s best-known football clubs. The sloping curved roof incorporates a ‘Bauder Green Roof’ insulated specification, which by design, visually impresses the observer, whilst at the same time blends the building into its rural landscape.
The finish of the roof mirrored the overall quality of the building. Accurate Roofing again received a large number of accolades from respected bodies within our industry. This was another project completed to cost and programme which was won with a competitive tender.
Coca Cola Factory, Sidcup, Kent

Initially called in due to our location in relation to the project, Accurate Roofing successfully tendered the re-roofing of one the huge warehouse buildings at Coca Cola’s main plant in Kent. The project brief was to remove the existing asbestos sheeting and successfully dispose of the material before installing a new profiled sheet cladding system to match the adjacent warehouse. The whole roof system was taken off in sections, removed and replaced within budget and to programme, whilst normal operations continued below.
The 3,500sqm roof was completed in less than 6 weeks. Valuing our customers as we do, Accurate Roofing was pleased to add Coca Cola to its growing list of satisfied customers.
Savoy Hotel, London

Accurate Roofing secured a hugely prestigious project through the Chorus group who undertook the £200 million refurbishment of the Savoy Hotel London. Accurate Roofing’s brief was to provide a cost effective upgrade system to the existing asphalt roof covering using ‘Alumasc’s’ highly acclaimed Derbigum system that has been used for many years to refurbish existing asphalt roof coverings.
The main South Block roof and roofs above the Reading Room and Beaufort Lightwell were overlaid with a 2 layer Derbigum system to replicate the existing finish. Awkward plant details to various other areas around the site were successfully detailed using Alumasc’s Derbigum Pitch Pocket material.
Rolls Royce Assembly Plant, Chichester

When part of the enormous roof over the main assembly plant at Rolls Royce failed, Accurate Roofing was called in to inspect and provide a condition survey. Working alongside ‘Alumasc’, a roofing material specialist, a specification was devised and submitted which suggested removing the existing Bio Diversity roof covering without removing hundreds of tonnes of material from the roof, thus saving thousands of pounds and shortening the work programme.
Our solution was readily accepted. The roof was broken down into eight 320 sq. m sections and re-waterproofed with a single layer of ‘Alumasc’s’ Derbigum system. An anti root barrier was installed over the existing covering to provide a completely new roof without taking any of the existing substrate down to ground level. The roof was completely re-covered to budget and programme as agreed with Rolls Royce.
Pump House Olympic Stadium, Stratford

Accurate Roofing secured this prestigious project by assisting the client in getting Bauder’s ‘Bakor’ hot melt system specified by the O.D.A. (The Olympic Delivery Authority). The project was carried out in full view of the main Olympic stadium. The system used was Bauder’s ‘Bakor’ hot melt rubberised bituminous monolithic membrane which provides a seamless waterproof barrier. This is reinforced with Bauder’s familiar Plant ’E’ Cap Sheet membrane which in turn provides a root barrier to the hot melt. Protection and drainage layers were then laid prior to the installation of 200 mm of Bauder’s extensive substrate. Plug plants and wildflower seed were then laid to the O.D.A. specification. The project was completed within budget and on time and will provide a natural habitat for wildlife for many years to come.
Krishna Avanti School, London

Accurate Roofing carried out in conjunction with Mansell Construction Services Ltd, a new build school project in Edgware. The project consisted of various flat roof areas using the Bauder BTRS system incorporating tapered insulation and various pitched ‘Green Roof’ areas. Using the same system, but installing Bauder’s successful Sedum blanket, an aesthetically pleasing visual effect was created, which by design, incorporated all of the different colours and roof shapes.
The project was completed on time, within budget and quality controlled/managed, using the skills and training of our employees, to produce a product and finish of the highest standard.
The Pines Calyx, Dover

The Pines Calyx is set within six acres of organically managed pine gardens situated near to the beach at St Margaret’s Bay, near Dover. Using the highly acclaimed ‘Bauder’ system, Accurate Roofing successfully tendered this project directly with the client and provided a Bio Diversity roof build up system which was ecologically brilliant in its design. The project created an enormous amount of public interest and was featured on local TV during various stages of the build process. This was a very technically involved project. Its twin merging domes were designed and produced to create a visually stunning effect that can be viewed from the park grounds at the Pines Calyx in Dover. This project created so much interest that it culminated in another nomination for Accurate Roofing at the highly acclaimed Flat Roofing Alliance awards in London. The nomination added to Accurate Roofing’s successful profile and endorsed it’s position as one of the leading roofing contractors in the south east of England.
University Campus Suffolk

Accurate Roofing carried out the above project for Willmott Dixon again using the Bauder ‘Total Green’ roof system. The project was constructed on a 20 degree roof slope starting at floor level 8 and spiralling down to floor level 3, with a requirement for 200 mm insulation to be installed upon the roof. Accurate Roofing designed and supplied a suitable bracket system to secure 200mm thick timbers in place at 5m centres all the way up the roof slope, so as to create a ‘picture frame’ effect to retain the 200 mm insulation on the 20 degree slope. The familiar Bauder membrane system was then installed above the insulation and finally their highly acclaimed ‘XF 301 Sedum Blanket’ was laid to create a truly stunning visual effect that can be seen when approaching the Ipswich Harbour. The project created a lot of media interest which culminated in Accurate Roofing winning the ‘Best In Class’ award for a new Green Roof project at the prestigious annual Flat Roofing Alliance awards. The company was extremely proud to receive this award and will continue to strive to maintain it’s commitment to excellence.
